Hugh Gaston

4K-7 Principal @ Spring Hill School

Welcome to my homepage and thanks for visiting. I would like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself.
I am a native of Wisconsin Dells and a fourth generation Wisconsin Dells High School graduate, having graduated in 1990. I attended the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where I received my Bachelor’s in Music Education in 1997. My primary instrument is the Tuba and I am a Tenor I in choral ensembles. The seven years (yes, seven years) at Eau Claire were filled with many life enriching experiences as the member of numerous performing ensembles and several experiences studying, performing and traveling abroad in Europe, highlighted by a semester studying in Scotland in 1993.
Upon graduation, I returned to Scotland for one year as the Assistant Director of the Wisconsin in Scotland Program where I facilitated activities for University of Wisconsin System Students in a 300 year-old former palace outside Edinburgh. Returning home in 1998, I was a long-term sub in the Westfield School District Music Department before securing a position in the School District of Wisconsin Dells in 1999 as a 6-12 Instrumental Music teacher and HS Assistant Track Coach. In 2008, I began my Master’s studies in Educational Administration at Concordia University Wisconsin and completed those studies in November 2010. From 2009-2013 I served as the 4K-8 Associate Principal and am honored to be serving the students, staff and community now as the Principal.
I am fortunate to be the husband of Darcy, the Athletic Trainer for our school district, and the father of Hugh (9) and Elise (8). I prefer to spend my free time with them, but also enjoy outdoor activities, reading a variety of books and magazines to support my chronic ‘nerdiness’, gaming on Xbox One (Destiny anyone?) or the PC, and whenever possible, visiting with family and friends. I am a member of Mastersingers USA, a sixty-five member male chorus that meets once a year somewhere in the United States to rehearse and prepare for tours of Europe. I have been on six tours since 2000, most recently a tour of Tuscany and Umbria in Italy. More information can be found at
Since 1987, I have worked each summer as an employee of the Original Wisconsin Ducks where I have been a parking lot attendant, a greaser, a tour guide and pilot, and since 1999, a dispatcher.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns.
